Shareholders/Governance
The Ntingwe Tea Estate is jointly owned by KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD – 68%) and Ithala Development Finance Corporation (IDFC – 32%). It is the holding company of Ntingwe Farming (Pty) Ltd, which is the operating company (which also has ownership of the assets of the estate).
The Agribusiness Development Agency (ADA) got involved at Ntingwe in year 2018 after the KZN Provincial Cabinet resolved that the management responsibility of the IDFC be transferred to the ADA, and ADA continue to provide management and strategic direction for the Ntingwe Tea Estate pending the process of amalgamation of public entities as per the directive of the National Minister of Public Enterprises in 2016.
